Flee market lessons

Two main things we've learned so far are:
  1. Scent samples are necessary to steer people to the booth. This is a flee market and not a craft fair. We attribute most of our success here to the scent samples turning people who were just walking past right into our booth. Some even went past and turned around after smelling the scent. They say get the candle under peoples noses, and this is how we're doing it. It works! If she's walking by and is old enough to have money, she gets a card with a scent on it. And yes, I said she. I'll split a crowd of 10 people to get to the women.
  2. The almost burned to the bottom jar is a great aid in showing people that the candles burn clean and smell good all the way to the bottom. We show everyone the jar that comes into the booth. Almost everyone is impressed and can relate to candles that have the black ring, burn right down the middle, and don't retain their scent after a few burns. This jar convinces most that our candles are better than the competition.
